Mental Health Commission

Created in 1972 pursuant to a township-wide referendum, the Commission provides funding to social service agencies that provide direct services to residents of Lyons Township with mental health and substance use disorders, as well as residents with developmental disabilities. Since its inception over 50 years ago, the Commission has disbursed over $100 million in support to assist residents of the Township of Lyons.

The Cook County Human Trafficking Task Force (CCHTTF) is a multi-disciplinary task force that brings law enforcement and social and legal service agencies together to work on human trafficking cases.

The mission of the Cook County Human Trafficking Task Force is to:

  • Combat human trafficking through seamless collaboration between law enforcement and social service providers;
  • Use a victim-centered approach in proactively investigating and prosecuting human trafficking crimes; and
  • Provide comprehensive, high-quality social services to all
    victims of human trafficking.

National Human Trafficking Hotline

Human trafficking occurs when a trafficker uses force, fraud or coercion to control another person for the purpose of engaging in commercial sex acts or soliciting labor or services against his/her will.

Their services include Support Hotline and National Human Trafficking Referral Directory.

General Assistance

Residents of the Township of Lyons who are not eligible for Social Security or a state supported program may apply for General Assistance. General Assistance also provides food pantry referrals, connecting residents to agencies and volunteers in the community. General Assistance is run through the Supervisor’s Office. School Supply Drive

On August 14th, 2026, the Township of Lyons is hosting the second annual Back to School Drive! In partnership with Popshelf, we’ll be giving away school supplies, backpacks, and prizes to families throughout the community.

This free event takes place August 14th, 2026, from 2-4 pm or until supplies last at 7900 S Oketo Ave, Bridgeview, IL 60455, in the community center.
